Learned about V-mail at the Military History Museum in Broken Arrow, OK

@ted Good reminder that Oklahoma has "best city names" 100%. locked. down.

@ted I tried my best to get them to change "Abilene" to "Phantom City" in reference to the nearby (and unexploited) Phantom Hill and Fort Phantom, but it was like talking to a brick wall.

@n8 I'd visit there. You need to get the tourism board on it.

Heck, they changed it to Czechia just for tourism.

@ted I eventually did get a city councilman on board with the idea of renaming it by "proclamation" for the fair each year, but unfortunately type design needed me before I had time to build the coalition into a majority

@n8 would that be done... by proclamation? 😉

@ted I'm pen pals with a rural OK postmaster who writes V-mail missives on occasion.

@cosullivan interesting! Is there still a way to send it? Basically seems like manual fax.

@ted I guess he'd print or recreate the V-mail and send it. I know he sent me a V-mail style letter a few years ago.
